I have been working on a couple sites the past couple of days.

One I have owned for a little while now - more on that one later- and the other was a joint venture with Greg Mathews.

The one with Greg is probably one of the best ideas I have heard in a long while. He approached me with the idea of taking orders and mailing out Valentine Cards. The concept behind the site is pretty simple really. We are providing a venue for people to have cards sent in total anonymity.

We will write and mail out a REAL Valentines card for you making sure the ’someone special’ has no idea who it is from, they will not be able to recognize the writing, and the chances are the postal stamp will not give any clues away either.

These are real cards, not eCards. They are not the cheap dollar store cards either. The cards are valued along those you would find at Hallmark or other fine card stores.

On MysteryValentineCards.com, we take the name and address and a personal message from the user then we hand write the message on a card and mail it to the recipient prior to Valentines day. There is no way for the recipient to recognize the writing etc so they will have no idea who has sent the card.

We also offer the chance to put your real name on the card for those who are unable to get to the card store on their own. This is perfect for those overseas who may not have access to a card store.

Give it a look and perhaps send a card to someone today!

As you may recall, my son broke his Nintendo DS.

It was a true accident. He was always very careful with it.

So I went online and bought a new case for it. It was sweeeet! Crystal clear with clear buttons and even a clear stylus.

My buddy at work offered to swap it out for me. He has all the tools and is a much more patient guy than myself. I told him to have a go, and if it did not work not to worry cause my wife and I had already written the game off as trashed.

The operation was pretty delicate. He had to remove all of the inside components and transplant them into the new case.

He was about 3/4 of the way finished and the unthinkable happened. The ribbon for the upper screen tore. He felt horrible. Online he went… He ordered a new screen and waited patiently.

It arrived and he got back to work. RUT ROH RAGGY! the speakers need soldered. My buddy is on top of this too. He knows a guy = Speakers soldered and time to test. Test failed

Online we go to check diagnostics… try this… to that… to no avail.

I applaud my buddy for his patience, and he and I are not done trying, but the wife and I went out and bought a “new to our son” used one cause he got some new games over Christmas.

- Peace

This may only be funny to me but…

We let the oldest stay up to see the New Year in. He got a little slap-happy as the night went on, but over all he did pretty well.

We went to the Church for a service at 7 and then games and snacks for the night.

I had gotten up at 3:30 on New Year’s Eve day so I was not about to try to make it to midnight and came home early and hit the sack.

My wife kept him at the Church and they played board games with the rest of the group.

They came home at about 11:30 and watched the ball drop and went to bed.

So now the funny part…

At about 5:00 yesterday afternoon, the oldest begins to brag to me that HE stayed up till after midnight but I fell asleep early. HE is still not tired, yet Daddy looks ready for bed already… typical 8 year old stuff…

We decided to go to Wendy’s for dinner. The boys love Wendy’s so we thought it would a nice thing to do for them.

We live about 15 minutes from the restaurant. We left at 6:00pm. By 6:10, both of my sons were asleep in the backseat of the car. Our youngest one, some 11 hours later at the time of this post, is still sleeping!

I did not think about the fact that the date is the Day after Christmas.
I did not think about the fact that there will be upwards of 25 people here at any given time.
I did not think about the fact that I will have gotten up at 3:30 am that day for work.
I did not think about the fact that some people get louder as the night gets longer.

I did think about the fun that will be had which absolutely erases all of the ‘I did not think’ items above.

I am excited thinking about getting the group together. Bring da fun yo!

I am not sure ‘lost’ is the word… more like STOLEN.

About two weeks ago, I went to H&R Block. They were offering an advance against your upcoming taxes. We needed just a little help for Christmas. Last year we received our taxes on the Emerald Debit Card. This advance would be added directly to that card.

Advance granted - Wife determines what gifts and for whom - we plan accordingly… All should be in-line right?

Well not so much.

4 days ago, she decides to check her written balance against the balance listed online. SUPRISE! There is a pending charge to Comcast for $100.00.

The phone calls ensue.

OMGosh! I am used to automated systems… “Press 1 if your irritated” - “Press 2 if your pissed” - “Press 3 before throwing your phone out the &^$% window” - BUT I have never experienced one like I did with H&R Block.

I was informed that although the person on the other end was ‘live’ they would be speaking to me with the assistance of a computer. The auto-responses to my questions/statements/demands were priceless. Think of ‘HAL’ from 2001/2010 or better yet the computer from War Games “Shall we plaaay a Gayyymmee?”

Anyway I digress…

I demand they take the charge from the card as it was not authorized. I explained to them that I had already spoken to Comcast and the charge was not ‘pending’ in my que, nor was it already applied to my balance. In short the $100.00 was not being used to pay MY COMCAST BILL!!!!

The computer spits out some blah blah about my needing to fax a statement in order to get the refund. I “went off” I told the ‘person’ that was not acceptable. Suddenly the computer voice was that of a young Asian woman. Very well versed in the English language. Why did I have to speak to a damn computer when she was perfectly capable? Just one more aggrivation…

Bottom line people… I love H&R Block. I do not however enjoy their fraud protection policy. We have faxed them twice about the issue and have yet to hear as much as an appology.

Looks like the person who got their Comcast paid this month is going to be much happier than my 8yr old who was going to get a Wii, but not now…At least he did not know it was coming.

Enjoy your free cable dooshbag!
