When I started this blog I went out looking for other people with the name (real or nickname) of Joby. I found some and even posted about them. But never (until now) did I ever interview one.

Recently I have been tweeting with a particularly interesting ‘Joby’

We agreed that Joby’s Blog needed to be more active so I decided what better way to update, than to aske her some questions. So here ya go…

Me  - Is Joby your real name? If no, how did you get the nickname? If yes, is it a family name?

Joby – “Joby is NOT my real name….but ive been called that since I was practically born, no one calls me by my real name which is Jobeth… My mother named me after Jobeth Williams the actress…(poltergeist,lol)”

Me - Have you ever met any other Jobys either online or in real life (other than me)

Joby – “You are the first Joby Ive met! I recently met someone named Jovi, but thats also a nickname, still intriguing!”

Me - Tell me a little about yourself, what are you hobbies, what do you want to be when you grow up.

Joby – “My passion is Photography…..If this is something I could do as a career I would be living my dream! I love to see life through the lens… Another passion/hobby of mine is fishing. I can fish for days!!! Im in love with the ocean and everything in it. I am currently taking classes to get my A+ certification! Im a big nerd, I love computers. I love to read and also play videogames! ”

In response to me telling her to list any images and links she wanted posted, she listed the beautiful photo this text is wrapping around saying:

My oldest son was just a year old on that day. As I look at how much he has grown and the events of our life since that day I am amazed.

He is now in the 5th grade. I have attended and graduated college. My wife and I have celebrated the birth of a second son, and mourned the loss of one never to be born. I have been hired by US Steel. The list goes on…

The use of services such as Google+, Twitter, Facebook etc. was not as prevalent as it is today, yet the word got out, and got out quickly.

Sadly though, my wife did not hear about the events until I returned home that evening because she had been watching the Disney channel with my son. To this day I cannot believe they did not at least run a small banner or news break to tell her and the other parents watching their channel.

It feels like only yesterday I heard my first account of what was going on. I can remember vividly the emptiness I felt in my stomach both when first heard, and after I arrived home and told my wife what she had not yet heard.

My heart goes out today as it did on that day to all of the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives to help to save the lives of so many. Those that they may never even have known. And to the families of those who gave that sacrifice.

I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty, but as an overview:

My wife and I were excited to announce we were going to be having baby #3, but God seems to have had another plan and has already invited her/him to live with Him in heaven.  This is bittersweet for Kim and I as we were really excited to have another bundle of joy, but trust fully in God and His plan.

So, when AngryMongo put up their contest (yeah this one) I could not wait to enter so I entered right away!

Life has been pretty busy around here lately so after entering, I sorta lost track of time and forgot when the contest ended, but I was quickly reminded last night when I received an email with an odd message…

For years I did everything under MJFDesigns. While I still own and operate MJF Designs, it is more of a hobby and no longer fully depicts who I am online.

This blog [Jobysblog.com] started out to be a place for me to come to post my feelings about whatever I wanted. Never really caring if anyone were to read it. But over the past few months I have been thinking about what I want to be when I grow up and will soon be steering this blog toward my new personal brand.

What brand? The brand is BaldFatGuy. Here is why:

Joby’s Blog has always touted the tag line ‘Blog of a Bald Fat Guy.’  I picked up the nickname when working with the youth of my church. I remember sitting in class talking with them one Sunday morning when I began to feel that they were not really paying much attention. I recall saying something like ‘Hey The Bald Fat Guy did not write this stuff God did…’ or something like that… They chuckled a little and from then on, I started referring to myself as BfG on Xanga etc (yeah I had one). Soon it became my handle on every new site I signed up for…

Somedays are status-quo, but others are down right exhausting when you look at them.

Take today for example…
- Baseball at 10, but gotta be there before 9:30, it is 30 minutes away so gotta leave by 9
- Tires for the Highlander
- Oil Change for the Highlander
- Home to start some cleaning to prepare to move Nick (or us) to the basement to give the boys more room.
- Practice for 5th Sunday tomorrow
- UGH!!!

- Shopping for clothes for upcoming events…
- Acoustic Sunday (I hope)
- Pictionary
- I am sure more cleaning and moving of stuff
- Church for Movie Night
– Tear down sound system in Fellowship hall
– Move sound outside
– Set up 6×8 movie projector & sound system
– Watch Movie
– Tear down sound system and movie screen
– Move stuff back to Fellowship hall and reassemble

Monday we have a T-ball game and swimming & eating all day

That is just this weekend…

I work Tuesday – Thursday this week. We have a couple meetings or games after work as usual. Then Friday starts our 5 day mini-vacation as we head to Myrtle Beach for Kim’s cousins wedding…

We return on the following Tuesday and then it is business as usual until Sunday the 19th when I pick up our song leader (Neal Brooks) at the airport and we prepare for the Week long West Virginia Christian Endeavor Convention…
