100 Jobs 10 for 10 rating :)

10 for 10 I just reached my 100th review on ScriptLance.

It has taken me nearly 9 years, but it has arrived…

I do not bid a lot on ScriptLance like I used to now that I have my full time gig at US Steel.

The 100th job started out simple enough:

There are 2 perl scripts you will be working on for this project.

The first perl script needs to have a routine changed whereby the script will read a specific URL variable and if such is exactly 1 of 4 variables then the script will display the respective html template. If the variable is not 1 of the 4 then it will display another html template. (Currently this script was designed to read the URL variable, check it with a database and display the respective html template, but it only returns the error message.)

The second script needs to be re-written. It will read the respective 4 text databases and print a table from LTR for each of the 4 databases if there are entries in that database. If there are no entries in the database then the script is to print a default message instead of the table.

All the required html templates are done and all the databases have been setup.

But the script was much buggier than anticipated so it took longer.

so maybe by the time I am 50 I will have 200??? LOL

Today is my Blogoversary

Filed Under (Clients, Coding, Entrecard, Mr Mainframe, My Sites, Random) by Joby on 10-09-2009

I have been blogging off and on for a few years now.

As of late, mostly off.

Over the years I have found quite a few blogs that bring me back, and quite a few that I hope to never see again. I hope my blog does not fit in your choice of the latter…

Joby’s Blog is a cornucopia of concepts really. I simply want to log into my admin and spurt off whatever is on my mind.

If I have a cause to promote, it will be here.
If I have a complaint to get off my chest, yup, it’ll be here.
If I want to promote and get a link or two out about my latest client or personal site (urlmorph.com)… well I think you get it.

Thanks for visiting (and in some cases dropping) this blog and showing me that it does interest someone other than my own narcissistic nature.

If you wish to help me celebrate my blogoversary, feel free to hit the donate button at the bottom of this post.

Where did the time go?

Filed Under (Clients, Coding, My Sites, Random) by Joby on 02-05-2009

Sorry for being away so long.

I have been busy with life and work.

Family…Well, let’s see.:

  1.  My mother has moved out of our basement.
  2. I bought a decent little ‘beater’ of a car. I can now get to work in Pittsburgh all week for about $25.oo
  3. We had a nice little spat with the neighbor over the Maple tree in the front yard which ended up with the tree now having no branches
  4. T-Ball has started and (God save the kids) I have been asked to be an assistant coach

Work (US Steel):

  1. I mentioned this before but, I have became our departments Mainframe Admin on March 2nd.
  2. I get training for the above May 11-14 (Thank God!)
  3. We have laid-off more people than I care to count.
  4. We let all of our Co-Op’s go and now my department has 3 ticket closers. We do all the security for the entire company.

MJF Designs – sites I have been working on:

  1. URLMorph.com – URL Shortening/Redirect site.
  2. TodaysFeaturedSite.com (beta) – Website directory with the ability to vote on the sites. The site with the highest rank is placed in featured section of main page.
  3. WinThisDomainName.com (beta) – Simple domain name auction.
  4. MyNewton.com – Returning client – Moved site to new server and upgrading back end. Work In Progress

There you have it… the short list of what I have been up to.

I will do my best to keep everyone apprised of my daily activities.
