Social Media who needs it…

I know a few folks to scoff at my addiction to Twitter and Foursquare; and that is fine, but…

If I had never started using them (social media apps/sites) I have met (online) quite a few awesome folks. I have already mentioned people like Chris Reimer [@RizzoTees] (who comments here once in a while) and Rob and Elena [@LadyUmbrellaltd], but today I have to draw your attention to Bill and Jess.

Bill and Jess operate Steel City Interpreters “…offering both interpreting and CART services as well as requiring all of our ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreters to be nationally certified…”

@SteelCityTerp (as the go by on Twitter) saw that I was walking the Southside tweeting/foursquaring my location as I went along and took the time to hit me up and say hey.

Soon after they offered me a t-shirt. During one of my next lunch time walks, I stopped by their office hoping to get to meet them and pick my shirt, but sadly they were not available. (soon guys… real soon!) but they had left me this awesome shirt behind the counter.

I took a few short minutes over the weekend to snap a pic of myself in the shirt and tweet about it. Mostly just to show them that it fit and it was not a wasted give away and went about my day. I wore it to the Fall River Fest on Saturday. I noticed a couple folks reading it and even answered a question from one as to what it was about.

Anyway I digress… I tweetpic’d it to @steelcityterp and went about my day.

This morning I found this in my mentions list…

The link took me to here.

Thanks Bill and Jess. It is nice to know you care about your fans. If you are this kind to one like me, I can only imagine how well your clients are cared for.

Keep it up.

Social Media, who needs it? We can all benefit from the networking and friendships that can grow from using sites like Twitter and Foursquare etc…
