Yesterday my wife lost her Grandfather.
He was an awesome man who touched many people over his 85 years.
I met him shortly after Kim and I started dating. Very soon afterward I found myself looking to him to fill the void of losing my grandfather earlier in my life. I very rarely called him by his first name, I always just called him ‘Pap.’ To me, he simply was my grandfather too.
I will strive to be the same type of man, father, grandfather, great-grandfather that he was.
So, Pap, as you await the arrival of the rest of your family in Heaven. Tell ‘Sam’ we miss him and we will all be together again someday with God.
Though my heart is sad today, my soul rejoices that your heart is no longer too weak and your body is no longer too fragile.
Goodbye Pap, but not forever.
