What a way to end the week.

I have been absent from here pretty much ever since I posted saying I was gonna Drop and Post everyday… Sorry about that.

Things have been pretty intense around here since Jan 1 and I don’t think there gonna slow down anytime soon.

One of these days I will fill you all in (all 3 or 4 of you that come and read…) but for now I will just talk about yesterday.

Yesterday was “Foulmouth Frida” and “Jeans Day” at work, but the atmosphere was not as relaxed as you would think. A number of people opted to accept an Early Retirement offer and were suddenly looking at the possibility of having that offer revoked. This caused a lot of tension with those who were really hoping to “Get Out.”

Just after lunch the final notice came that everyone who got the offer was accepted and they would be leaving on March 1 as usual.

My boss came up to me about an hour before I was to leave and asked if I would like a ‘Rotational Transition.’ I asked if I would still be in the department and he said yes.

Before I go any further, let me give you some background if I may.

- I have not worked there for a year yet
- I am an MA which means I am not much higher on the food chain than an intern
- I already do more things than an MA is supposed to do
- There is a hiring freeze, so once my MA time is up, I can only hope the freeze is over…

That said I did not figure this rotational transistion would be a good one but said “Yes, I am interested.”

I was then informed that I would be working with our resident Mainframe expert (who is leaving March 1) to learn as much as I can from him in the next 3 weeks. The boss also said that since I was to be working with him, I would need to be working near him so I was instructed to pack my things and switch desks with another of the gentlemen who took the ERO.

I am not going to lie; I am nervous as hell, but this is just one more thing for me to learn that will make it hard for them NOT to hire me on when my MA time is up.

Wish me luck and if you are familiar with RACF, lemme know :)
