Disaster Recovery… well… almost

Yesterday was day two of DR testing for me.

I arived at about 6:30 am to speak with my co-worker and prep for the day. It really looked like this time we would test 100%.

What an awesome thought considering it was my first test…

The day was long and held a myriad of emotional, mental, and at times physical highs and lows. Overall, I am glad I was chosen to take part.

We ended up concluding at 11:50ish with one application failing to test. What a bummer!!! This app has tested successfully in the past more times that the other people working with me could count. The server it needed limped and crawled all day trying to restore, but simply never made it online enough to allow the test.

So, after 14 hours (15 if you count the lunch hour),a slow server, a crashed and saved server, more phone calls than I care to talk about, and a pair of Penguins tickets (which I sadly declined) I went home. I wish now I would have stayed until the end, but I was beat and it is not a fun drive from Pittsburgh to my little hick town.

Off to my cube. I have not been there since 9/12 with MA training and the DR test. It should be an interesting day…

‘ More tonight
