I may grow old but I will never grow up…

I have used that phrase for as long as I can remember.
Lately, I have noticed it to be true…
GROW OLD:
This year in a matter of 4 months and 3 days I will be only one year away from 40! My body however thinks it is turning 80. Between the lower back pain and the newly found arthritis, my body can pretty much bring me to a halt whenever it wishes. It seems to have also pulled in the weather to help it along in its fun with my daily routines.
Last night I placed the trash at the curb. A simple task really, only two cans, a few remaining boxes from Christmas, and 3 bags that would not fit in the cans. I took them all down to the curb like a good little husband should and came back into the house. Then the fun began.
The time was about 8:30 pm when I came back into the house from the curb. The walk up the slight grade was an indicator that I would soon be in the horizontal position on the sofa, and quickly.
I came into the house, washed up, and as quickly as I could, found my self flat on my back on the davenport. There I lay; sore, tired, and really pissed off that something so simple could cause such pain. GRRRRRRRRR
GROW UP:
NEVER!!! It is way too much fun to be a 38 soon to be 39 year old kid. I would not know, nor do I want to know what it is like to be a 38 soon to be 39 year old adult.
I can put on my grown up face for my job and when I need to for my kids, but after that I am just as excited to open presents on birthdays and Christmas as my children are. I can’t wait till we go on vacation to the beach (though I secretly act as if I don’t want to go.) I wait in anticipation for the first cookie to come out of the oven while licking the spoon from mixing bowl!
This rant really has no purpose really. As I sat here today I wondered what I would let pour from my nearly 40 year old fingers and thought about the past few weeks and this is the first thought that came to me.
